To start this article I have a confession to make. I'm going to be dead honest when I say I'm writing this for the $5 million dollar reward -- probably like 90 percent of the article writers in the Buzz this week. However, I'm going to try to make it a good read for you; so sit back, click away, or read on, and rethink your life afterwards.
Every now and then, I log into the game and check out what's going on. I usually play seriously for a while, doing some missions, criming a lot, find some guys to OC with and sometimes even join a crew. Buy some points from BSF, gamble a bit, do a give away, fuck around, lose interest and log out, only to return two months later.
But... why? Why do I keep returning to this game, and why do I keep losing interest?
Well one of those questions is pretty clear to me: I lose interest because that's basically who I am; I enjoy things for a while until I find something better to come along and go with it (Shh.. Don't tell my current girlfriend).
But why do I keep returning? I'm not sure. Maybe because it's a habit? I don't think so. There must be a reason because it would have become a habit.
Because I have lots of stuff to do? Fuck no. Maybe for a day or two. But I lose interest again soon enough so accomplishing long term goals isn't a motivation for me.
Actually, I realy don't know why I log in every now and than. So I thought to myself: Why not ask other Leggers of the Boot why they log in.
Here are some answers I received:

"Because its addictive."

Friends are one reason. The game provides a great communication and interaction method with people I like.
The Buzz is another. It keeps me writing and keeps me doing something creative.

My main reason for still being here is that I love the people who play the game. I've made friendships here on BL that have outlasted friendships with people I know in real life. The community as a whole is a great thing to be a part of.
Additionally I also have the pure joy of being involved in the development of the game in my own small way, so I get to practice my favourite hobby of web development on my favourite place to call home.
So as you see, people have all kinds of reasons to log in. I would go on to find some more interesting answers, but I have to run so I'm going to wrap it up.
Why do I personally log in? I still don't know. But I thinks it is somewhere between finding the joy I had many years ago on Bootleggers, and knowing I won't get, but the lingering curiosity remains as to what the game has become.
Now it's your turn. What is your reason to log in tomorrow?
