I saw a heated debate in the forum this week, regarding whether Bootleggers was declining. The topic alleged that as a game we are losing players. Various estimates and theories were thrown around. As I have been collecting the game’s statistics since I took over the Buzz, I thought some of you, or at least those who were involved, may be interested in the actual numbers.
In the last 4 months, the games total player base has increased by 3,855. In the same period 3,211 players were killed. Assuming that every person who died over this time-frame signed back up again, we currently have 644 “new” players.
Many of you will know someone who has left the game due to varying reasons, so this figure for new sign-ups is most likely higher.
So at the end of it all, over a 4 month period, at least 16% of our 4,070 players can be considered to be new. Whatever the naysayers wish to believe, I would say Bootleggers is very much on the rise. The bigger question is, why don’t we see many of these new guys on the forums? But that’s a whole other issue entirely.
NB. Staff, testing and permanently banned accounts are not included in these numbers.
