Controversial Bootlegging Update Reversed Tortuga

One month ago, the Bootleggers’ staff released a controversial update changing the carrying capacity from three crates of booze per strength level to two crates per strength level. The update also targeted the payout received for smuggling organized crimes, greatly reducing their earning potential. The players immediately combated the updates. Vehemently against the reduction of their cash flow, they demanded explanations from the staff. Sky was among the first of the staff to provide a rationalization stating that,

“The profits you can make are now based more on distance than they were before, so the further you take booze, the more its worth. Taking booze a few miles is still profitable but not as much as it used to be. It’s more balanced now.”

It seemed that the despite the staff’s well intentions, the players would not accept such a hindering change. The staff now had a choice to make, with a majority of their player-base in opposition of the update they had to choose between keeping the game pointed in the direction they desired or listening to the feedback they were receiving from players. On the night of June 5th the staff finally took action and the previous update was partially repealed.

The carrying capacity for booze was once again raised to three crates per level and the payout for smuggling organized crimes was increased slightly. Based on players’ reactions, this seemed to be a fair compromise that everyone could agree with. Some players resent the still lowered smuggling organized crime payout, but with a $20,000,000 increase in total game cash since the repeal it is hard to complain too much.

It seems that round nine will be one where player input is of high priority to the staff in regards to the changes that they will be making for the game. This repeal is evidence enough of that. Only time will tell what else the future holds for Bootleggers, but it is apparent the players will be given the ability to input their own ideas.
