The FBI and the 'Elite Guard' taskforce were plunged into crisis on Sunday, as a recently circulated internal memo has suggested that Organized Crime throughout the United States is outgrowing measures to curb activity. The memo in question, seemingly written by a high ranking Federal official; highlighted gaps in intelligence and an increasing inability to capture notorious Mafia figures up and down the country.
The problems highlighted by this memo have focussed primarily on expanding criminal operations, and made specific reference to Assignments. It is thought that this title refers to underworld tasks set to criminals by high ranking Mafiosi in order to prove their worth, and their increasing sophistication appears to be overwhelming underfunded and under equipped law enforcement departments nationwide.
When reached for comment, an FBI and Elite Guard spokesman downplayed the significance of this memo, arguing that it was more a "draft plan for increased Federal funding". The spokesman also reassured concerned citizens that they have Organized Crime "in hand" and are actively pursuing leads to prevent further 'Assignments' from contributing to crime and endangering the public.
We at The Buzz will report further developments as they come.
