Play on Fellow Bootleggers! NyxxieV2

Does the time 4:00AM and 7:00PM have any meaning to you? As a member of the Bootleggers community, it should. Everyday at both 4:00AM and 7:00PM Bootleggers time, the server shuts down for a range of 2-15 minutes. However, as of December 23rd, the 7:00PM server shutdown, reboot and save has been proven to be obsolete and was removed.

Many would ponder why we even need one downtime and would argue that no downtime is better than one, however, when discussing this with Sabin, he replied, “The downtime is a result of a database backup. Each day all of the information in the database (your stats, forums, crews, casinos) all get saved and put in a separate place. If we ever have a major problem where we need to do a "rollback" (return the game to a previous point in time), we can do that with these backup files. This makes sure that if something bad happens to the server, you won't lose weeks or months of hard work.”

When the database is saving vital information, it is locked to assure that no data is changed whilst being saved. Due to the missing server being locked and non-accessible, the game turns offline, unable to function without it.

Although the 7:00PM downtime has been confirmed as obsolete, the 4:00AM downtime will continue to run as scheduled. “We know that it's a bit of a pain, but it's a small inconvenience to make sure the game will always run smoothly,” says Sabin.
