Have You Seen This Man? DejaVu

On a chilly August day back in 2005, I did what I usually do. I logged onto Bootleggers to join an OC and look for anything interesting in the game forums. There didn’t seem to be many people online but one thread caught my eye… It simply said, “Congrats sk0116x!” I clicked on it out of my own curiosity only to find that sk0116x was our newest BL Moderator. I didn’t really know him at the time, but I posted my congratulation message anyway.

Over the next year and a half, I had one opportunity to talk to the man who became Lotus, while we all watched him advance from a regular Mod to Senior Moderator. But since the Bootleggers reset in October, finding Lotus has been more like trying to find Waldo. In the back of my mind I always had the same question as many of you, why was he still a Mod, because you never really saw him on?

This past week those concerns were put to rest. Bootleggers had two very hard working and well known HDO’s promoted to Moderator. I took a minute to view the profile of the Elite Guard, hoping to see the new structure that would take effect. But one name was missing. Where was Lotus? After a year and 8 months Lotus was no longer a Mod. This only left more questions to be answered!

Sabin was kind enough to offer the answers to a few questions concerning the demotion of Lotus. When asked why exactly Lotus had been removed, Sabin had the following to say, “He disappeared, basically. He'd log on to do nothing. He never told us what was going on. No post in the CF. No BM to me. Nothing. He'd been at 28 tickets longer than I could remember. I finally got tired of it.”

It was interesting to see that Sabin had the same opinion as so many of us in regards to the situation. But what about Lotus, would he be a Mod again? Would he get re-promoted if he was active again? Again Sabin was kind enough to explain, “Maybe, but he would lose his status as Senior Mod and would start at the bottom. He may be able to get it back quickly, but I would expect a lot from him to prove himself and make up for all the times I had to hear about how lazy he is and how I should make room for active Mods... and he'd have to apologize for leaving me out of the loop.”

Not wanting to take too much time one last question was asked. What about others in the Elite Guard? What will happen to the other names you rarely see on like dreamnid and Nohau? To end the interview, Sabin had the following to say, “dreamnid does help, just doesn't log on. I don't have the authority to fire Nohau.”

Just like that it was the end for another BL Mod, and the beginning for two more! I viewed the profile of Lotus only to notice that he was dead. We at the Buzz aren’t sure exactly who killed him, but if you have any information regarding the death of Lotus, please send me a BM. Sabin, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions this week!

Lotus decided to leave us with a post on the Game Forum around 4:50pm BL time.

Hey Everyone!

Most of the veterans here will know me as sk0116, but my most recent name was Lotus. I played since the first reset when a friend told me about it. Throughout the years I made some friends that I won't forget. It won't do any justice to try to list all of them for fear that I may forget some.

It appears that Sabin officially kicked me out of the Elite Guard, without consultation. I probably had it coming with the months of inactivity, but for the amount of time and dedication I put into this game, the least that could have been done was communicate this to me. I hate to leave on a sour note, but this is probably best for the game.

Sorry for any misunderstandings that I may have had with you or for not being there at times. I'm still pursuing my ultimate goal of becoming a surgeon, with only a year to go in medical school. Feel free to contact me at sk0116@msn.com as I may sign on to there every once in a while. I'll leave with a good luck to everyone, and a note that you all should not let this game consume you ever as it should never take the place of your real life. Try to push the administrators to do more for the game as it has been fairly stagnant these past few years.

Later all.
