Re-doing Bootleggers; Missions GPEnergy

"Re-doing Bootleggers" will be a featured series of articles about possible new features bootleggers could implement over time, these features might be relative small changes to the BL we know today but in the later articles I will give feature suggestions that will be a bigger change to BL, giving the game an extra level of tactics. Today I’ll start off with something simple, the missions.

Every once in a while players cry out for new missions, however, even if new missions are added it still wouldn’t solve the problem that at some point the missions are done and you can’t do any more until you’ve died.

My idea to improve the missions is as follows. Once you have done all the normal missions, those we have today, the mission page won’t show you a picture of a train moving away with the text ‘no further missions available right now, check back later’ or whatever it says/shows but a page where you can click a button to commit a new mission. Once you press the button you’re in the mission for 4 hours during which you can’t do anything, so similar to being in the shooting range. After 4 hours you receive a bootmail with a story on what your mission was about and your reward. Missions like these can be done once every 24 hours.

The rewards can be anything, from money and bullets to (police)cars, stocks, new gun / protection or shooting skill. Rewards might even be associated with the mission, a kill mission for example could give bullets, guns, shooting skill where a extortion or robbing mission would give money, stocks, cars and such. Bullet rewards shouldn’t be that high as it might trigger mass duping for mission bullets once more. With the rewards should obviously come risk, every time you commit a mission, the mission has a chance of failing, which, if you started the mission with little health, could actually kill you.

Mission stories can be something like killing some Wallstreet banker, hijacking a train or whatever, shouldn’t be too hard to come up with a few dozen different stories.
The bootmail you receive after the mission would look something like this:
A New York crime family hired you to assassinate a Wallstreet banker that stole a small fortune of them. The family supplied you with 7,500 bullets and a new weapon to complete the mission. You succeeded in killing the target with 6,000 bullets.

Reward:
Bullets: 1,500
Gun: .45 Caliber
(provided you did the mission with a High Standard)

Hope you all like the idea and feel free to comment on this article. Next week I’ll be looking into the crew feature.
