Staff Member of the Week! SeanFailKnox

BettyB was the choice for the final part of the first series of 'Staff Member of the Week'. One of the first responses to the topic I made was a message from the boss of Event Horizon assuring me that I would not get a very good article out of her time on the Help Desk. Nevertheless, I vowed to cover every single staff member so everyone will be pushed into the light eventually! So anyway, an interview was conducted around Wednesday and Thursday and BettyB told me that the reason she is no longer a part of the Help Desk was because she didn't agree with the way "a lot of things were done" and after discussing it with her crew, she was fired (presumably for discussing private information). While she told me that it was good to experience a different part of the game, it was simply not for her. She firmly believes that no one has to be yellow in order to help the players, which is a fair point. Due to her short time on the Help Desk (around three or four months), she did not really have any memories either good or bad to reveal. However, she has no intention of rejoining the Help Desk because "there might be people currently on staff that [she'd] rather shoot than be forced to semi-work with". A shame.

It would seem as though BettyB, while I'm sure she was being a little harsh on herself, was correct when she made out like not many people would have much to say about her time on the Help Desk. Nyxxie said "I remember her being fairly active when she was around, but nothing note worthy. I think she was more interested in being a good crew boss than an HDO and that's fine, so does a better job running EH anyway." Everyone has a different style of playing Bootleggers. Personally, I'm not interested in crews or shooting at all, but there are players who spend a lot of time running them. It would seem that BettyB is that way inclined. In a way, it's a good sign to see someone with such old-skool priorities; as she put her crew before her position on the Help Desk. Fellow Help Desk Operator HowlingMadMika assured me that while she was on the Help Desk, she did a good job when he said "I must say I don't remember much from Betty's time as HDO. She was there, wore the yellow suit and did what she had to do I'm sure. Then, one day she returned to the normal color. I've never seen players disagree on decision she took whilst HDO or hate on her, though, so for as far as that is concerned she did a good job I think." It's quite rare to find any member of staff who isn't attacked by players for the decisions they have to make and to say that BettyB was never attacked is a positive reflection of her ability as a Help Desk Operator.

I believe this is a simple case of one player who simply does not fit in to the yellow jacket. Let me personally wish BettyB all the best with Event Horizon.

This concludes the first series of Staff Member of the Week. Due to the substantial number of suggestions posted in the Buzz Suggestion Box, I will move on to another one within a few weeks before coming back to this to discuss five more staff members. I hope you've enjoyed. If you have any suggestions for how the format can be improved, feel free to comment below!
